If education has ever felt like a maze, you are not alone. I grew up in a bilingual household where learning was deeply respected, but the unwritten rules of school were confusing for my parents. Forms came home in a language they did not fully speak. School expectations were not always explained. And when it came time to make big decisions, like which classes mattered, how grades worked, or what “college ready” even meant, it often felt like we were guessing.
That experience stayed with me. It is why I became an educator and why I built Edu Tome: to make the academic world feel clearer, kinder, and more navigable for students and families in every season of learning.
My path
I earned a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and spent eight years teaching secondary education. Those years gave me a front row seat to something I still believe with my whole heart: students thrive when they feel seen, supported, and appropriately challenged.
After the classroom, I shifted into college prep and educational consulting. For more than a decade now, I have worked alongside students and families as they make decisions that can feel high-stakes, like choosing courses, planning for standardized tests, building a college list, or deciding whether a traditional campus, an online program, or homeschooling is the best fit.
Across all those roles, my goal has stayed the same: translate the system into plain language, then help you build a plan that actually fits your life.

Why Edu Tome
Edu Tome is the resource I wish my family had when I was growing up.
Education is full of acronyms, timelines, and “you should have known this already” moments. That can be intimidating, especially for first-generation students, multilingual families, busy caregivers, and anyone who did not grow up with a built-in roadmap.
My mission is simple: help you make confident, informed education choices without the overwhelm. That includes the practical steps, like checklists and planning tools, and also the emotional reality, like motivation, confidence, and what to do when the plan changes.
I’m also a big believer in frameworks that make support more accessible. You will see ideas aligned with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) throughout the site, which is a fancy way of saying: flexible options and clear expectations help more students succeed.
You do not need to have everything figured out to move forward. You just need the next right step.

My approach
I am a fierce believer in personalized learning because I have seen too many students labeled as “unmotivated” when the real issue was a mismatch. The environment did not fit. The pacing was off. The tools were not accessible. The expectations were unclear.
That is why you will never see one “right” answer pushed here. A student can flourish in a large public high school. Another might need a smaller setting. Some learners thrive with the structure of a campus, while others do better with the flexibility of online classes or the tailored pace of homeschooling. The best path is the one that supports your goals, your values, and your reality.
And yes, I love a good tool. I am always testing study apps, planning systems, and language learning resources. Right now, I am teaching myself Mandarin, which has made me an even more empathetic learner. It is humbling in the best way, and it reminds me that consistent, small practice beats perfection every time.
